Metal Gear Solid V Gets A “Sexual Violence” Rating Description

Posted: January 7, 2014 in News

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes has been given an M rating in the US by the ESRB (Entertainment Software Ratings Board). The M rating comes because of a “sexual violence”  content warning, an extremely rare warning that has only occurred once before, back in 2006 and that waqs a game called Animamundi: Dark Alchemist.

The game was given 3 other descriptors:

  • Blood and Gore
  • Intense Violence
  • Strong Language

These are normal for a Metal Gear Solid game though.  The description by the ESRB of the content that caused the “sexual violence” description follows: “The game includes an audio file in which a female character is sexually assaulted by male characters; while there is no visual depiction, sounds of ripped clothing and struggle can be heard. The words “f**k” and “sh*t” are heard in the dialogue.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is due for release on March 18th in the US and March 20 in the UK.
